Basseterre St. Kitts May 28: A prominent Kittitian jurist has been appointed to be a member of the Regional Judicial and Legal Service Commission of the Caribbean Court of Justice.

Queen’s Counsel, Dr. Joseph Archibald, who resides in the British Virgin Islands, was advised by letter dated May 24 and signed by the Court’s President, Justice Michael de la Bastide.

Dr. Archibald will serve the unexpired term of Othneil Sylvester, CMG, QC, who resigned as a member of the commission. The appointment runs until Aug. 19, 2007.

The Regional Judicial and Legal Service Commission makes appointments to the office of judges of the Caribbean Court of Justice, other than that of president.

Presidents of the Organization of Commonwealth Caribbean Bar Associations and the Organization of Eastern Caribbean Bar Association jointly nominated Dr. Archibald to fill the vacancy.
